Creating pretty borders is quite easy with the variety of products available in scrapbooking today. There are a huge range of papers with pretty scalloped border edges but what do you do when you don't have one in your stash to match - well the answer is to create your own. The following page shows just a few little tricks in creating your own scallop borders inexpensively and how to co-ordinate other decorative borders.
There are corner punches available now with removeable bases that make it easy to create your scalloped borders. The one used here is an EK success Punch sold through Stampin' Up.
To create scallops you need to remove the base.

Using the punch upside down you can easily see to match up one scallop with the next. See the steps I used to create the following layout of my lovely new little cousin Kobi.
This was just a small photo and with all the photos sent from our relatives and friends I put them into our 8x8" Family and Friends Album. (as you often get small or only one or two photos the 8x8" is the perfect size for a coffee table album)
I selected this Making Memories-Noteworthy striped paper with the pretty pastel colours and a dark Aubergine bazill cardstock. I scalloped the side, bottom and the other side of the paper leaving the top edge straight.

I continued the scalloped border along the right side of the photo and adhered both the paper strip and photo to the page.
I then selected buttons in various sizes, matching the colours in the paper and after running a very thin strip of 3D Adhesive adhered them to the page.(There are many adhesives around but I use Pritt Gel because it stays thick and flexible and holds perfectly with 3D items and dries quickly) As I like to "sew" my buttons onto the page, I only use enough adhesive to hold them in place so thet there is no glue filling up the holes.

Above the buttons I have added a strip of self adhesive Prima felt swirl. This is quite a bright blue but to soften it to a pastel shade I sponged over it with a white versacube. Above this I used a strip of skinny double sided tape and adhered it to the page first, then adding the pink Ric Rack.
The beige journalling card was cut to size from a scrap of cardstockand then stamped with a border edge and some sweet baby words.
Add in the journalling and an embellishment in the bottom right corner.(I knew I had kept this sweet fabric tag by MM for a reason ;-)
